OH BOY!
Baby shower invites take a natural look for one lucky little boy.
Each invite contained an "It's a boy!" flag.
It's a Boy flags for baby shower invites.
Growing up with two brothers had its up and downs but I survived to tell about it. Now as an adult I find that life with two brothers is even sweeter than I thought. Now as an adult there is less brothers teasing you and more brothers talking to you. It is fun to see my two brothers grow up, graduate college, find jobs they love and wives they love more as they start their families. This fall our family will be growing by two members. My youngest brother will be getting married and my older brother and his wife are expecting the first grandchild for my side of the family. Both of these events are exciting and involve fun anticipation of arrival. From gifts to showers I'm already smiling ear to ear with how happy both these events make my heart. I am happy that my brothers are experiencing these joys, that our family is increasing in size and love and that it means lots of party planning and crafting for myself! This is just a start but here is a look at the invites for my sister-in-law's baby shower happening next month.
A blue calligraphy pen helped to tie in the flags to the rest of the invite.
After they were married my brother and sister-in-law lived in a small town in Idaho while he worked for the forest service. They now are back in Ohio working along side my parents in the family construction company and we are happy to have them closer. However, the nursery for this little boy is going to be a nature, forestry, Idaho theme so it is only right that the invites and showers mirror that fun theme.

Each invite consisted of a blank space on the inside card which was stamped to make it a party invite. I wrote all of the shower information with a calligraphy pen on the inside of the card, with registry information on the opposite side. Besides forest themed stickers, each card contained a poem asking each person to bring a book instead of a card and a flag announcing "It's a Boy!" I made each invite unique playing with a variety of colors, stickers and paper. The end result was both playful and full of bold, earth tone colors.

A separate card in the invite reads:
“Although cards are nice with their sentiment and prayer,
They’re read once or twice then tucked away with care.
A book is a treasure, words and pictures unite
Read over and over to teach and delight.
So instead of a card for Baby and mother,
Please give a child’s book with your thoughts in the cover.
Your book will be cherished; God will watch from above,
When it’s read they will remember your kindness and love.”
